Five of ten most wanted serial killers are indians
Deadly spine-chilling killing sprees with an Indian connection. The extent to which Indian criminals have spread their tentacles is given a shocking twist by a World Centre of Crime Investigation-compiled rogues' gallery, which lists five Indians/NRIs among the 'top 10 serial killers in history'. John Smith, an Indian, terrorised Seattle by killing men and kidnapping children. Equally notorious is 26-year-old Maheswar Padhi, the youngest psychopathic serial killer in the country. "We are seeking the assistance of the FBI to nab Padhi, who is known as the 'stoneman' and uses rocks to smash the skulls of persons sleeping on pavements," says Berhampur DSP Rakesh Thakuria. Baldev Singh, alias Harbhajan Singh, and Baljinder Singh are alleged to have committed atleast 105 murders each, killing their victims by strangulation. Bhaskar of Tamil Nadu has murdered around 230 persons. "The worst part about these five Indian serial killers is that there is hardly any clue about their whereabouts," informs WCCI director Nigel Peter. WCCI's international hall of shame also includes Pedro Alonso Lopez who, with 300-plus murders against his name and is known as the 'Monster of the Andes'. Diabolical are the ways of Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Toole, who have committed 200 murders between them and are known as the 'Tag Team from Hell'. HH Holmes, who has committed more than 200 murders, started his criminal career by stealing corpses from the University of Michigan and collecting insurance money using fictitious names. Also finding a place among these killers is Harold Shipman, a British doctor who has murdered more than 200 patients. "All these have a common passion for the physical," says Peter. While Pedro, Lucas and Toole are serving life-imprisonment terms, Holmes and Shipman hanged themselves in their prison cells. As for the five desi serial killers on the 'most-wanted list', arrest is imperative. Otherwise, innocents will continue to be a victim of their criminal ways.
